If you want a new purse (who doesn’t?) you should think about going to Belmont Village Retirement Center in Green Hills tonight, Thursday, October 16th from 5:30-7:30. The residents there are hosting a fun auction… with all of the proceeds going to Alzheimer’s research. This is the third year in a row they’ve collected handbags from famous Nashvillians and auctioned them off.
This year, you can bid on bags donated by Nicole Kidman, Ashley Judd, Amy Grant, and Kathey Mattea… just to name a few. I’m hardly famous, but I donated a small black Coach clutch myself. The new owner will get a tour of the station for themselves and a guest.

The people who live at Belmont are a hoot to sit and talk to. I did a story on them last year, and we had a ball. My grandmothers are both deceased, but this was the next best thing. Belmont Village is located at 4206 Stammer Place, or you can call them at 279-9100. If you don’t find a bag you like, you can make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association the night of the auction and they’ll provide you with a tax deductible receipt right on the spot.
